American Car & Foundry delivered 100 4600 cubic-foot covered hoppers to the DT&I in November 1973. They were painted grey-white and were used to carry grain.

DTI 10312  Karner Elevator Siding, Dundee MI  Nov. 1973 Jim Sinclair sent me these photos of  brand-new ACF covered hopper DTI 10312. The car should look familiar; these photos were used to produce Herald King decal set H-112.   Accurail has revised the lettering on the #2028 DT&I ACF covered hopper - nice job!

In the early 1990's these cars were released by Grand Trunk Western and sold to Helm Financial Corporation (HJVX). There are still a handful of these cars in service today still wearing their original DT&I paint.
