Springfield, Ohio 1971

I worked for Penn Central at this time. The DT&I had a run-thru train
from Springfield, OH to Cincinnati that used PC crews. We went to work
at either the engine servicing fac as shown or at the DT&I yard which
was some distance from the service area. The trains ran DT&I from
Springfield to South Charleston where we got onto the PC (PRR) and
continued to Xenia and Cincinnati (PRR's Undercliff Yard). On the
return trip the next day we boarded the train at PC's Sharonville Yard
(NYC - Cincinnati) and used the same DT&I power of the day before to
take a train up the NYC via Dayton to Springfield.

• Cab shot in 1971. I believe this is coming off the lead from the NYC connection and DT&I Springfield engine servicing fac towards the DT&I yard, but 1971 was a loooong time ago.

• A southbound DT&I freight is about to hit the Penn Central (NYC-CR) diamonds next to the tower at Quincy, Ohio on 3/9/71. He's doing every bit of the 49mph Federal limit for dark territory.
