HO Custom Decorated Model

Brian Everett arranged for Accurail to produce a custom decorated 50' boxcar kit based on the DT&I 18100 series boxcar. Accurail ran a set of 12 extra numbers on decal film painted the same color as the model, so it is possible to have thirteen (or more) of these cars with different numbers on your layout.

Super Detailing the Model

 This is the closest available model kit to the prototype at the moment; Brian has modified one of the cars to look more like the prototype:

He added Walthers #933-1030 Cushion Coupler Pockets, carved off the grab brackets molded on the car body and replaced them with Details West #235-169 4-Rung Ladders, replaced the 8' doors in the kit with 9' Youngstown doors taken from a Walthers 50' Waffle Side Box Car kit (out of production)  and added metal wheelsets and coupler cut levers made from 0.015" brass wire. The floor and the added parts were touched up with Floquil #270-110035 BN Green.
