History
According to Brian Everett, the 14900-14924 series rebuilt plug door boxcars were converted in August 1967 and used for hauling cereal from the General Mills plant in Toledo, Ohio. They were rebuilt with 9' plug doors and recieved a thick, spray-on plastic interior lining to keep out vermin.
The photo Jim Eager took of DTI 14915 in 1980 shows a 'CFC 7-76' reweigh date. I'm guessing these cars were leased from the Chicago Freight Car Co. by the DT&I at that date as the cars don't appear in the October 1971 ORER listing on this website. The cars are no longer listed in the April 1984 ORER. I'll see what else I can find out....
